Elon Musk Offers $1 Billion to Rename Wikipedia to His Suggestion

Elon Musk continues to be a prominent figure in the news headlines after acquiring X (formerly Twitter). His numerous decisions have brought significant changes to the platform, including changing its branding to X and removing the old checkmarks. In addition, Musk continues to offer polarizing advice.

Now, in a recent development, he has proposed a billion-dollar bid for Wikipedia in exchange for a name change.

“I’ll give them a billion dollars if they change their name to Dickipedia,” Elon Musk wrote to X. Musk added that this is “for accuracy.”

Musk also quickly responded to X users, who responded to Musk in much the same way. One user said: “@Wikipedia, do it! You can always trade it back after you collect (the money). To this Musk replied: “At least one year. I mean, I’m not crazy lol.”

On the same day, Musk was also curious about why Wikipedia demands so much money from its readers. “Ever wonder why the Wikimedia Foundation wants so much money?”

He added: “It’s not really necessary to use Wikipedia. You can literally fit a copy of the entire text on your phone! So, what’s the money for? Inquiring minds want to know…”

Notably, this comes months after an exchange was spotted between Musk and Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales. Jimmy Wales recently took a dig at Musk for censoring people critical of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Edrogan and denying free speech.

That being said, it should be noted that Musk is known for his temples at X, and recently Musk has made other peculiar remarks as well. For example, Musk challenged Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg to a cage match.

“Knock, knock … challenge accepted … open the door”. “I thought you might want some tea, so I brought the bags,” Musk said, tagging Mark Zuckerberg’s X account.

But apparently Zuckerberg was quick to dismiss Musk’s claims when he responded to his comments about X’s competitor – Meta’s Threads app. “I think we can all agree that Elon is not serious and it’s time to move on. I offered real dates. Dana White offered to make this a legitimate race for charity. Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery and now asks to train instead in my backyard. If Elon is serious about a real date and an official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, it’s time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take sports seriously,” the Facebook founder wrote, and the cage match never happened.
